*How to remove a flash hider? 5 Years, 1 Month ago
|
|
|
How do I remove the JG AUG flash-hider. I really don't like the giant orange one that came with the gun and can't get it off. There is a small hole that I think has a bolt, but so far nothing I have tried works.
Any help would be great.

Usually that small hole contains an allen wrench screw. Its extremely small and doesn't really need to be there. Take that out and unscrew it.
Some flash hiders have threadlock applied which means that the flash hider is slightly glued to your barrel. If its metal, take lots of heat to it and then attempt to take it off. If not, take a thin rag and an adjustable wrench and screw it off. If those don't work, your EFF'D!

yeah i have the same gun except the hole is full of dirt cause of paint from HSP. Everything else is easy... The hardest part for me to figure out was taking out the inner barrel from the outside barrel.

Hey Xero, i I think I have something in the hole where the allen bolt should be. It might be glue or dirt or something. How did you get it out?

use a pin or a tiny screw driver to pry it out. Find the smallest allen you can find in a hardware then it will fit. I dont remember but i think its a .50mm

For some reason now I can get the flash hider to unscrew about 360 degrees, but then stops. I have tried a vice grip, but the entire barrel starts to unscrew itself when I twist any harder. Any idea why I can only get it halfway?

Why don't you put the barrel into the vice grips (wrap a cloth around to not damage it) and get pliers to twist it off (again with the cloth unless you don't care, in which case don't use the cloth because it decreases grip)

How to remove the flash hider? 4 Years, 6 Months ago

NOTE: I am in no way advocating this just to remove the orange tip. That would be against federal law. This is solely for the purpose of attaching aftermarket accessories such as mock silencers and full metal flash hiders.
Most AEG's flash hiders are screwed on to the barrel via a counter-clockwise twist. Most have a tiny screw (either philips or a 1.5mm hex) under the flash hider that keeps it locked in. But some AEG makers instead use glue!
If it is glued on then:
1. Screw off the entire outer barrel. This shouldn't be too difficult.
2. Boil some water in a pan large enough to fit the entire outer barrel with the flash hider.
3. Drop the entire assembly into the water for 1-3 minutes.
4. Use tongs to pull out the barrel, but be careful not to touch the flash hider. The flash hider is plastic and it will be soft enough to deform. I found this out the hard way.
5. Using a cloth, hold the barrel tightly in your right hand with the flash hider pointing towards your left. The barrel will be HOT.
6. Insert a butter knife between the prongs of the flash hider and twist towards you while maintaining a tight grip on the barrel. Once you've loosened it, it should screw out easily.
You may also want to dip your barrel into the hot water for a few more minutes and then wipe down the threading to remove any excess glue.
You should now be able to attach any accessory with a 14mm counter-clockwise thread.

Firstly, since you're new you should introduce yourself.
Second, dont double post, just edit your first post.
There is a sticky about this too:
